ok, so, i have no idea what i just had for dinner.

well, there was pork. and there was beef short ribs. but then there was a bunch of other stuff that i'll be guessing about.

we ordered the short ribs (kalbi gui) and pork (jeyook gui), and they brought out a mini hibachi grill that was already fired up where they would eventually cook the meat. then they brought out eight bowls of stuff. here are my guesses: there were two kimchi kind of things. one was what i think of as kimchi, the other was soupy and had pickles in with the cabbage.

then there was a salad of something that seemed sort of seaweedish, but i don't think that's what it was.

then there was some sort of pickled radish. i suspect daikon. it was cut like spaghetti.

let's see. that's four.

there was a cold mushroom salad. shiitake, i suspect.

there was a bean sprout thing. that was really good.

then there were two other things. one was a beef and cucumber mixture that was good, but there was a ton of cartilage in it, so that made it a little more difficult to eat. it was in a spicy sauce and had some sesame oil in it.

last there was something that looked like pieces of crab. it was hard to tell under all the red sauce on it. pam passed. i tried it. i tried to bit around the shell, and all i got was some spicy quasi-crabby goo. i didn't have anymore.

they also brought in some red paste sauce, lettuce leaves and chunks of jalapeno.

then they started cooking the pork. there was a griddle on the fire, and the pork sizzled as soon as it hit. we nibbled at the sides until the pork was ready. when it was, we made lettuce wraps. i put some of the daikon in, some of the seaweedish stuff, some pork and some of the paste. it was tremendous.

when they were done with the pork, they took off the griddle and cooked the short ribs on the grill. they were really good, but really rich. but we finished them.

once the meat was cooked, they also brought us a bowl of steamed egg and some rice.

eventually, we ate just about everything in some combination with the other stuff we had.

except the crab.
