Arrival day and Table Mountain

It was a sleepless night for some on the plane, with Matty coming out with the odd sentence in his sleep and the crumpling back into sleeping position. Others were just talked to by some random person sitting next to them while trying to watch a film. The general reaction to the plane food was ‘interesting’ as far as plane food goes.
After the pre-take off delay, we managed to arrive a little later than planned at roughly 11 o’clock local time. Everyone was feeling refreshed after the journey and the buzzing atmosphere returned as we got off the plane only to be held up by Aylesbury Grammar School but obviously we are far superior to them.
The first visit of the day was to Table Mountain and as we approached everyone gazed in awe of the amazing landmark, except of course Mr Vanstone who looked absolutely petrified.
When we arrived, we had to take a incredibly steep cable car, on which Vanners was cacking himself, to reach to the top where it was 3,000ft above sea level.
At the top we held some heats of the the ‘Edward’s Armwrestle’, where Ben, Andy.D and Lee all exited in the first round. Some with ease and some with a struggle.
Buster, our tour mascot, also managed to pick up some birds (not the feathered variety) whilst exploring Table Mountain.
Also, whilst we were at the top of the mountain, we performed our very own version of Soccer AM’s ‘gunshow/strongman’ dance (video to come) to the delight of other visitors.
The weather stayed fine as we moved on to lunch where we ate at the sea front restaurant with a good variety of sea foods and traditional Italian dishes. Ryan Crawford of course had to picky with his choice of lemon & lime which he describes as an ‘acquired taste’ whereas everyone else went for the simple coke or orange juice. There’s always one isn’t there....
