The 2007 Elise “Adventure”

The day started at 40 in Charlotte, and finished up near 70 degrees in Orlando. After a late start, we stopped in Columbia, SC to meet one of Doug’s friends for lunch and fuel. Met a traveling musician at a rest stop who said he had just played a blues gig at Puckets Farm Equipment Co., which is a mile from my home.

Refueled in Woodbine GA. We stopped at a Harley store in Daytona to pick up a tee shirt, then drove to Orlando. (Note to self: following Musketeers into an ABC store parking lot in the depressed downtown of any major city is, eh... not so good.) We finally found a hotel and had a late dinner; Sam Sneed’s Tavern & Grill is highly recommended.

Heavy traffic due to tomorrow being Easter Sunday. Quite a number of vehicles were drenched with salt... northerners migrating south after the snow earlier in the week.

We had a number of motorists take our picture while driving. There seemed to be a flurry of it when we got into Florida. I think most were kids heading to Spring Break. Per Doug/Cory’s suggestion: I will try to return the favor and take a picture of them to get their reaction.

Update 2am: I’m asleep in my hotel room. I hear some fumbling at the door. The door opens. The light comes on. Some random person walks in... sees me... screams, “There’s someone in our room!”... exits. Right when I go back to sleep, the phone rings, front desk wants to let me know that someone entered my room. So the next morning I go out to my car  and return... my key doesn’t work. I go the front desk and ask them what do they think they should do. They offer free breakfast. I remind them if I was female or a family with kids they’d be comping the room, why do single males get discriminated? (somehow I keep a straight face) They relent and knock off 50% of the bill. Plunkers.
