Louis Kristiansen

I did not use to know Louis who had come to Sweden from Denmark right after World War II. But I had been to his shop, “Sy City”, in the heart of Lund where he held all kinds of textiles, buttons, and sewing equipment in store for his customers. But when my wife told me that he was going to close shortly, I asked whether he would find it OK that I took some photos of him there in his shop.

No one had done it before. He was delighted; and so was I. Through this we got to know each other a bit and he was delighted with some of the pictures below - while not liking those on which he thought he “looked far too old”.
With the closing of his shop, a piece of Lund history has disappeared. But, he told me a week later, he’d better start selling sewing machines. “I can’t walk around in my flat all day long and do nothing!”

All the picture, raw without processing, were taken on May 28, 2009.
