The  Quick Start  concept

These guides are for the fly fishing fanatic who packs a rod on business trips, doesn’t have the time for a guided fly fishing trip, or simply wants to get out on a stream with the least amount of hassle and stumbling around.

I’m putting together these guides of places that I have fished because I believe that the more people fly fishing, the better chance our chances for protecting the aquatic environment.  I’ve spent hours aimlessly driving around a new town trying to find a place  to buy a license or lunch, or along a new stream, looking for a place to park without getting shot or  a section of stream with at least a chance of having live trout. Hours driving are not hours fly fishing.

These guides should get you on the water fast. Please email me suggestions or comments to improve them.

Every fly fisher should be using the free Google Earth (Mac or Windows) for scouting, so bite the bullet and download it  You’ll find links to Google Earth kml files on the Quick Start page that will, unlike may other guides, get you to specific places where you can catch and release trout.
