LOS ALAMOS, NM—There was a change to this year’s Pajarito Punishment mountain bike race. In addition to taking on a new sponsor, Pajarito Mountain Ski Area, the race took on a new course, taking riders on a punishing tour of the environs of Pajarito Mountain. For the first time, Punishment participants didn’t have to endure the endless, horrendous climb up Pipeline Road, but instead had to contend with an equally arduous trek up the top of the ski hill on some wicked singletrack that challenged both the lungs and the mind. For a more complete race report, check out Mountain Flyer magazine’s website.

In this gallery you’ll find a sampling of images that showcase a small portion of the entire 18 mile course (12-mile and 6.5-mile options were available to sport-class and beginning riders). To inquire about using or purchasing these photos, or to inquire about others not shown here (there are many more), please contact me by electronic mail. Congratulations to all the riders this year and kudos to Pajarito Mountain Ski Area for maintaining a great Los Alamos tradition with a first-class course and sponsorship, and a well-run race!
