James Lassen - Artist

This ongoing series of work is an observation of how cellphones affect peoples’ behavior.  What I’m interested in the most is showing how this technology affects the way people look in public places.  Gestures, postures, and body language that were once a private affair are thrown into public view to the point of unavoidability and oftentimes, annoyance.  These paintings are all painted small (12 x 12 inches at the largest) and quickly to reflect the fast-paced attention-starved lifestyle that cellphones symbolize.
