The big question, certainly for me anyway, is in regards to the N95’s white balance. Does it still come with added Mar Effect, or are things a little more natural?

Below, on the left is the final production N95 photo, on the right is the prototype N95. The Mars Effect, whilst still present, is nothing like it was, it’s not perfect but it’s much better - phew, what a relief!

Check out the two photos to the left, both taken within seconds of each other, one displays a red tint the other is perfectly balanced. Clearly the white balance issue is kind of hit and miss . . . strange.

Let’s talk about another issue with the camera on the N95, the sharpening. You can’t truly tell from the small version of the picture seen below (check it out on Flickr), but the N95’s post processing engine doesn’t always pull off the best results. When you zoom in, pixel for pixel, you can clearly see that the image has been heavily processed, both to reduce noise and to increase perceived sharpness. I’m sure the results will vary according to subject matter and light levels, but for me, I shall be using my own custom sharpness settings for most photos - I rather sharped things up in iPhoto or PS in required.

Just for testing, I also managed to get hold of one of my all time favourite phones, the Sharp 903. I remember it having rather fantastic colour balance. The results speak for themselves. Amazing colour balance, not so amazing clarity though.

Perhaps a small firmware update could give the N95 this level of colour balance. But for now some minor tweaking might still be needed.

It’s looks as if it might be a sunny afternoon - should be a good opportunity to take some more natural videos and photos. I confident that the N95 can do the business!

They’ll be lots more N95 stuff soon.

I’d like to take this opportunity to offer my sincerest thanks to the N Series Team, it’s was a pleasure to be involved in the beta testing phase of the N95 and your recent gift of a production Nokia N95, Nokia bluetooth stereo headphones, Nokia bluetooth keyboard and Nokia bluetooth sound bridge was incredibly generous and will be put to good use here at the The Creative Life Blog. I’d also like to thank all the team at WOM World, you’ve been nothing but supportive and friendly - keep up the great work!64ED5273-2F20-4454-8BFC-5F0B4A2B481D.htmlhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/11851299@N00/sets/72157600017531262/shapeimage_1_link_0shapeimage_1_link_1
