Phone: N95 Sat Nav - more than meets the eye . . .

When the N95 was first announced, it was the inbuilt GPS function that really got me excited. Well, that and the 5 mega pixel camera!

However, the GPS function on the preproduction model hardly ever worked - some say that it’s takes about 10 minutes to get a satellite fix, but I never got a fix!

That being said, I was able to try at the sat nav software on the N95 by syncing it up with my Nokia LD-3W.

In addition to the Maps application that we’ve all read about, the N95 comes with a more basic GPS application. It’s pretty bland as it really only gives feedback on postion, speed, distance, etc.

On the face of it this may not seem too useful, but combine it with this handy screen capture application and it becomes extremely useful for keeping tabs on your walking/jogging/cycling schedule - think of it as a kind of iPod Nike Kit on steroids!

Nokia could really go to town with this function, they’d only really have to tweak the the basic GPS application slightly to turn it into something really special!http://www.antonypranata.com/screenshot/shapeimage_2_link_0
