During the month of May, the Canon HV10 never left my side - it was there for the Seal Beach sunset, it was there on Fox Glacier and present for the laser show on Victoria Harbour. A trusted companion or a pain in the a . . . arm?

It short, it’s amazing!

The 1080i HDV high definition video is the best I’ve ever seen, it’s clean and bright. I’m no expert, but I like to think that I can spot duff colours, colour fringing and artifacting with the best of them, I consider it part of my geek qualifications!

As a still camera it’s proficient, offering many of the options that the standard Canon still cameras do. One great extra feature is the ability to capture stills to the memory card whilst reviewing the video - simply press the still capture button and the video is paused, push it further and the familiar shutter sound can be heard whilst the frame is saved to MiniSD.

I’ll put some video samples up later, but for now here are some photos taken with the HV10.
