Nokia N93 owners, should you be thinking about upgrading to the N93i?
 
When the Nokia N93 caught my eye back in August 2006, the first thing I did was check the net for video and photo samples. I was moving from a Sharp 903, a very capable 3.2 mega pixel camera phone, with 3x optical zoom and a gorgeous display, so I was keen to assure myself that I wasn’t downgrading by moving back to a Nokia. Though I found quite a number of photos, mostly attached to reviews, they never seemed to show me quite what I was looking for - would the quality be ‘good enough’, in other words, could I seriously consider using the N93 as my primary still and video camera? In the end I made my decision and bought the N93, and though the N93 is not perfect, I have no regrets, it’s a wonderful piece of engineering. So, now I have in my possession the upgrade to the N93, cunningly entitled the N93i. It seems only far that I address the kind of issues that I myself would like to see addressed, if I was me, but without a N93i . . . does that make any sense?!! In short, the purpose of this blog is to ‘deliver coverage of new technology that enables creativity in all it’s forms.’, meaning, this blog will probably never provide you with a full on, in depth review of any gadget, but rather, it will provide reviews of the features that enable content creation. In the case of the N93i, that means videos and photos. Over the last couple of days I’ve demonstrated continuous auto-focus whilst in video mode and the appreciable difference in noise whilst taking photos in low light. Today’s post demonstrates the overall difference in look and feel of photos, over the older N93. Click on the photos to the left and see for yourself how much cleaner the N93i photos really are. Along with the extra clarity comes a much needed boost in vibrancy. Colour accuracy was never a problem with the N93, and thankfully that remains true for it’s successor.
