The inclusion of the full physical keyboard was something of a surprise to me. At a time when people when were just starting to contemplate the idea of entering a significant amount of text via an onscreen keyboard, Nokia equip their newest internet tablet with the real deal.
Was it worth the extra weight and space? As you can see for yourself during my brief video, for me at least, the N810’s physical keyboard and the iPhone’s virtual substitute are about equal in speed and comfort. The iPhone has the potential to be faster as there is a much shorter distance between keys, however the auto-correction system is not quite there yet.
Obviously, neither solution is as quick as a full size qwerty, but both will probably perform slightly beyond your expectations.
Next up, the Nokia N810 as a video playback device. Can Finland’s finest give Archos and Apple something to ponder on?
