Many of Venice’s streets are extremely narrow, and with 3 or 4 story buildings looming overhead, camera angles can get pretty tight. Last year I discovered that the wide angle lens unit that I used for my Canon HV10 actually worked quite well when pressed up against the lens housing of the N95, like such...

The Nokia N82 isn’t quite so suited to the Raynox 5050 Lens. However, it does work, you just have to be more deliberate when positioning the lens.
The results can be quite dramatic and certainly make for an engaging new look. In the photo below I’ve combined a duotone effect with a wide angle for a rather striking image.
Granted, there are some downsides to my proposed N82 wide angle solution, aside from the obvious baggage and hassle, there is also some distortion on the outer perimeter of the image, so some cropping might be in order... again!
Here are a few more examples. For connivence, I’ve also added them to a Flickr set.
Just as with the Tilt-shift images that I featured a few days again, this wide angle look is not everyone’s cup of tea, and it’s certainly not well suited to all subject matters, but it still has a place in my photographic toolbox!
