It’s quite scary just how easy the human brain can be fooled. Take the Tilt-shift photographic method which in it’s pure form involves actually tilting the lens - suddenly, your average street scene is transformed into a Lilliput! Honestly, some examples I’ve seen are so stunning, they really are works of art in their own right.
I’ve been interested in the Tilt-shift method for quite some time now. Fortunately there is a rather simple Photoshop technique which replicates the analogue tilted lens procedure almost perfectly.
Whilst visiting Venice recently, I took a few photos on my trusty Nokia N82 specifically with Tilt-shift in mind, you can view the results below...

What’s perhaps most remarkable is how the effect becomes even more profound the closer you zoom in...

Look at the water, it almost has the appearance of glossy painted tin, and those brick walls could be carefully crafted clay! I’ve posted the full size images to Flickr.
I return to this subject in another post, probably including a short movie showing the Tilt-shift method in Photoshop.
I have to admit I love this stuff and the Nokia N95 and N82 are perfect devices, with their 5 mega pixel sensors they allow for a great deal of cropping flexibility, something which is quite necessary for the Tilt-shift method.
I wonder how they would perform in the field of HDR photography, hmm... (^_^)
