The Nokia N82 is continuing to win hearts amongst bloggers and forum members. It seems to have practically everything the N95 8GB has, but in a more compact and sturdy frame. Then there’s the Xenon flash, a real boon for indoor and night photography.

Personally, I’m really starting to warm to the silver snapper. However, there are two major issues that keep me from rating it higher than the mighty Ninja. The first is the design of the keypad area, for me it’s just a tad too finicky. The second is the screen size, I enjoy watching TV (exported from EyeTV or via Sling) on the train to work, on paper it may not seem that there is much difference between the N95 8GB and N82, but it’s surprising what a difference it makes.

You may not be phased by the smaller screen of the N82, so I thought I’d provide you with some video playback times.

I converted the I Am Legend trailer to a good quality (320px wide) H.264 MP4. I set the N82 to flight mode and made sure there were no other apps running. Playback began at 1:00pm and looped continuously until 5:01pm. Not bad, not amazing, but not too shabby either.

It seems that the Nokia N82 would be perfectly capable of providing an hours worth of video entertainment and then continue through the rest of the day providing all the normal Nseries services. Good news.../../../Blog.html
