Want to see what your N95 is truly capable of? Interested in the cutting edge of digital art? If you are a regular reader of Nokia Creative you’ll most likely be eager to check out the outstanding work of Henry Reichhold of Reichholdarts (www.reichholdarts.com). at the Connected Worlds exhibition currently running at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

“The 'Connected Worlds' project sponsored by Nokia Nseries, consists of two exhibitions - one 'real world' and one virtual. The duality of this approach aims to reflect the way in which images are being shared across the world today. Shot entirely by Henry Reichhold of Reichholdarts with the Nokia N95 multimedia computer, the project covers 9 cities across 5 continents, including London, Paris, Venice, New York, San Francisco, Sydney, Cape Town, Singapore and Hong Kong. The exhibition at the Royal Albert Hall is made up of a series of huge panoramic pictures, each created from a collage of many files. At up to 6 meters long, the images set out to challenge how we look at mobile phone imaging and create a vibrant panoramic portrait of the elements that make each city unique.”

As with many of today’s great artists, Henry has a real understanding of what technology brings to the table. It goes almost without saying that he has a passion for Nokia Nseries multimedia computers, but he also makes prodigious use of good software too. REALVIZ Stitcher Unlimited is used to blend as many as 30 photos together into one seamless vision.

Take a look at the artwork below, as we let Henry talk us through the process . . .

To create the scene of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, “First I shot the sky, putting the camera on sequence mode and setting the colour balance manually. This involves shooting about 16-20 shots just for the sky!
The skyline and foreground is then shot by first getting the right exposure, then locking it (half pressing the shutter) and then a new sequence of around 30 images is created.

I then use an application called REALVIZ Stitcher Unlimited to put the images together, Adobe Photoshop then comes into play to create the atmosphere for the picture. In this case the birds and the sun were shot as a separate sequence slightly further down the beach and then incorporate into the final composition.”
Henry makes it all sound so simple, but as many readers will know, locating, capturing and composing multi-shot scenes can be a real nightmare!

If you’re in the London area how could you resist the chance to see the Nokia N95 pushed to it’s limits and, of course, admire the artistry of Henry Reichhold? The free exhibition, starts today and runs until November 6th 2007 at The Royal Albert Hall of London. It’s also viewable at Nokia Island in Second Life.

You may also be interested to learn that Nokia Creative will be giving away two full copies to the application Henry Reichhold uses to compose his artwork, REALVIZ Stitcher Unlimited (Macintosh or Windows). The competition will be run in conjunction with the November and December Nokia Creative N95 Photo Awards. I’ll post more details soon, but if you want to be in with a chance of winning this superb application then make sure you post your very best N95 photos to the Nokia N95 Flickr User Group during the months of November and December.../../../Blog.html
