I'm Captain Jim Berry, an Officer from First Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment.

It was during the highly-publicised tour of Afghanistan with 3 PARA on Op HERRICK 4 that I was seriously wounded during an operation in the Sangin Valley.

Throughout my recovery I have kept a diary, and when I was seriously ill in Intensive Care, my Dad kept a diary too.

The doctors gave me a 20% chance of survival.
