Country Overview (source: www.worldatlas.com)
Much like the ancient Roman and Egyptian empires, China led much of the world in the arts and sciences for hundreds of years. Then, in the 19th Century, China experienced debilitating civil unrest, significant food shortages, military defeats, and foreign occupation.

With the end of World War II, the upstart Communists under the leadership of MAO Zedong established a dictatorship that, while ensuring China's sovereignty, imposed strict controls over everyday life, and cost the lives of tens of millions of people. After 1978, his successor DENG Xiaoping gradually introduced market-oriented reforms and decentralized economic decision-making. Those efforts were successful as GDP output quadrupled by the year 2000. Today, political controls still remain tight, but more and more economic controls continue to be relaxed. China's economy is booming and its influence is growing worldwide.

Tourism, always popular in China, is a growth industry, as the country presents (quite possibly), the most fascinating destination on the planet.

“Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.”
~ Psalm 2:8~
Crossroads Connection: Over the past several years 5 different Crossroads members have taken several trips to visit, encourage and join with several missionary families in China serving Tibetans.  These trips have stirred in our hearts a passion for the people who live on what is known as the “rooftop of the world”. These trips included long bus rides and treks on foot to unreached Tibetans to show the JESUS video on hand held DVD players and distribute the gospel message to people who have never heard it.

Current Ministry Description: These missionaries seek to share the love of Jesus Christ and the hope of the gospel with one of the least reached people groups on the planet.  Less than 1% of the Tibetan people have heard the name of Jesus Christ. These missionaries perform a wide variety of functions ranging from language study, tour guiding, business training and relationship building

Prayer Points:
  1.  For God to prepare the hearts of the Tibetans
  2.  Encouragement for the missionaries
  3.  That God will provide strong relationships
  4.  For revival to break out in Tibet
