A little about me...
My name is Lani Whitley and I have recently entered into the decade of my 50’s! I grew up in Southern California and graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a BA in Art, and an emphasis in Illustration.
Drawing and painting have been my passion ever since I was very young. I still remember the thrill of a new box of crayons, or an untouched set of paints! I currently teach art classes for Artful Journey – a fine arts school in Colorado. My husband, Kevin, our three daughters, Candice, Wendy, Amy, and I have lived in Colorado for 15 years. We love this beautiful state, enjoying each season throughout the year.
My fascination with color, shape, and contour lines has drawn me to paint in a style that resembles stained glass. Within each stained glass piece, it is fun to streak the paint and play with colors and shapes up against each other. I believe art should be an expression of the creative voice that quietly speaks to each artist from deep within. My desire is to create very unique compositions, in which the components of shape, color, and design work together to create motion, emotion and visual energy. I enjoy “envisioning” something as I think it could be, and then bringing it into existence through my work.
