The fourth grade students at Jackson School sang The Circle Song by Bernadette Farrell for their holiday concert on December 12, 2006. The lyrics for The Circle Song are ‘Come and join the circle, come and take my hand. Come and join the circle. Come and be my friend. Gather round and see what the world can be. Come and join the circle. Come and share God’s word with me.’ We decided that we would invite teachers and students around the world to sing The Circle Song and to share their recordings with us. Our circle of friends continues to grow as we participate in this exciting project to promote peace and friendship across the globe.
This project is dedicated to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston and to very special friends of Jackson School who have inspired us to become part of the global community. Many thanks to our former music teacher, Mrs. Joy Denton, for introducing and teaching us The Circle Song. Thanks also to Mrs. Susan Niden, principal of Jackson School and S. Mary Ann Connolly, former principal of Walnut Park Montessori School, the Jackson School and Walnut Park teachers and staff, and students and teachers around the world for your enthusiasm, participation, and ongoing support.
