Five of nine secondary schools turned out to play rounders on Thursday on Parliament Hill above the track.
Teams from LSU, Camden Girls, Parliament Hill and Maria Fidelis took part in the first Federation Year 9 Mixed Rounders competition with the assistance of boys from William Ellis School.
Parliament Hill and Camden Girls had a particularly exciting match. After 20 good balls they each had 4 1/2 rounders. In the extra 3 balls for each team, Camden Girls scored a 1/2. Then Parliament Hill scored a full rounder making them the winners.
Results have been calculated by counting rounders for and against each team, as no team won all their matches and three schools won the same number,
Players from this event are eligible to enter the National Finals in June. I will be contacting schools in February 2009 regarding Camden team training.
Schools from all over England send teams to the Nationals in Birmingham which is run by the National Rounders Association.
