Hi, my name is Jack Berberich. In 1974 I bought a Shopsmith Mark II and moved it into a 14ft x 16ft basement. I built my first workbench, desk, and table.
I fell in love with everything about making wood furniture.
Today I own a 8500 square foot warehouse, originally built in 1886. My wife and I live on the third floor. The rest of the space is filled with my tool addiction. Basement and first floor woodworking. Second floor, spray booth,wood lathes and machine shop.
I'm still a one man shop with lots of contact with the local craft community.
Almost all the photographs on this site are commissions. Clients call with ideas and together we come up with a working plan.
So much of the pleasure I receive from making a piece is the process: Doing things as well as I possibly can while trying to stretch my skill set. This might involve making and modifying tools, hinges, catches or other hardware.What ever it takes.
