The SMO Reading Group was founded in January 2001 and we held our first meeting in February 2001. We have just celebrated our 8th anniversary with most of our members having been with us from the very beginning!

Meetings:

We usually meet every 4-6 weeks depending on the length of the book in the Iberia Conference Room. We usually spend a few minutes catching up before taking care of any business. Generally the moderator provides some introductory information about the author and then begins asking questions of the group. At the end of the meeting, each member gives their rating of the book on a scale of 1-5. You can find the average ratings of our book here.

Book Selection:

During each book rotation, four members each select 3 books to recommend to the group. Each member votes on the one book they want to read from each person. The book with the majority of votes is chosen and the person who recommended the book is the moderator at the meeting.
