ORIGINAL PREMIERE:
ECA in New Haven
Tuesday March 18th 2008
7:30 PM Arts Hall
The lovely folks at the ECA Music Department kindly asked me to create something for their March 18th concert. The work I created is called “Pronounce All Numbers” and this is “incarnation#3”.
Here’s the blurb I gave them for the program:
A short and spacious work for piano solo, and some electronics, specifically created for ECA and this concert. The notes E, C, and A were given special treatment: they became various triads, then: a row based on the pitch-material present. Some notes were left over, and they became the aggregate- to fill the rest of the row. This is NOT an old-school 12-tone serial piece, just used some of the philosophies for generation of materials, and went elsewhere with it. I thought: what if Morton Feldman and Arvo Pärt grew up in today's times, and "musically" melded...what would that sound be like today?
So, on the top to the right is a preliminary recording of the work. The first recording. It will change. I used a Korg KAOSS mixer and a virtual instrument from ReNoise as well as a Steinway B. I’d be happy to hear any constructive criticism.

2nd Performance:
Firehouse12
Satuday December 6th 2008

Doug Fisk put together a COMPOSER/PIANIST concert program, and asked my to play this work. I was honored. You can hear the recording of the LIVE performance at Firehouse12 on the right, second from the top. They didn’t record the effects and mix it in, though, so the recording doesn’t really represent the richness that the audience heard.
