KMT BIOGRAPHY

KMT* (Hip-Hop Teacher) is the abbreviation for Kemit, the previous name of Egypt, choosing the name to indicate, like the progressive nature of the country’s indigenous ancestors, his constant quest for education and positivity through music.

KMT specialises in UK black/urban music fusing Hip-Hop, R’n’B, Dance Hall, Neo Soul, Soul, Broken Beats, World, Grime and Pop and worked throughout the world for over 12 years, playing venues like Cargo, Shunt, Fabric, Stoke Rochford Hall, African Cup of Nations 2008 (Ghana), and Glastonbury.

KMT is a qualified D.J Teacher (holding an MTTC qualification, and also a current CRB form), and has worked closely with the acclaimed London alternative/progressive company C.M (formerly Community Music) and holding DJ workshops for Merton Council, P.A.N, Newcastle & Chelsea FC, Rattalas (Czech Republic), Redbridge Council, Lambeth Youth Crime Prevention and Love Music Hate Racism.

One of KMT’s biggest projects is The Real Hip-Hop Workshop whose main aim is looking to promote community cohesion and dispel the negative imagery connected to some elements of rap culture. By teaching and advising on how to use Hip-Hop to explore relevant social issues, a working model of creating peace, love, unity and respect is delivered.
