The first day I saw Emelia, I said to my brother Earl, "there goes my wife."
I kept my eyes on her. I followed her out of the plant. She was calling for her brother, Hervé to take her to town to buy some shoes. I said to her, you are calling me and I will go with you.
After I talked to her, then we went up to her house and met her mother. Naturally her mother had to fix us a sandwich. I was all for that.
Emelia went to fix herself up. I was still in my work clothes and went to town with her like that. She done her shopping and then we went to NuWays and got a couple of hotdogs, french fries and coffee. I didn't make much money, but I could afford that.
Those were the good old courting days and THAT WAS THE BEGINNING.
I told Emelia it wasn't the last she'd see of me and I was knocking on her back door from then on. Emelia was sweet and pretty as a picture. She was a dream come true. I wasn't too bad myself. We courted about two years before we got married.
I got a good woman.
