            Artist, Writer and Researcher

About me:

I am an artist, writer and researcher inspired by the intersection of fashion, art and history. I am the author of the widely read scholarly blog FASHION IS MY MUSE and also have written for a number of other print and online journals. Among my areas of research are fashion and art, 18th and 19th century women’s dress, haute couture fashion, Canadian fashion designers, and negotiating femininity in fashion. Based in Toronto, I am currently represented by Loop Gallery. I was the keynote speaker on the topic of “When does fashion become art?” at the 2011 Costume Society of America mid-west conference. In June 2012, I will be speaking at the Fashion Tales conference in Milan on the topic “The Metaphysics of Blogging”.

My installation “Constructions of Femininity” and will be at Loop Gallery, May 26 - June 17, 2012.
