- What is iLoveControl ?
iLoveControl is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows you to control the various components of your home theater or you home automation system. You can control a single room or your whole house, from inside the house or outside of it. You can control the lights, drapes, air conditioning, audio and video. You can turn on your TV, surf your cable or satellite channels, play your favorite tunes around the house and when you are done, you can turn it all off with a single touch. iLoveControl is fully customizable to meet the demands of new, existing or upcoming home automation systems, and it supports most IP enabled systems like those from Crestron® and AMX®. iLoveControl requires additional programming from your home automation system's integrator in order to control the devices in your system. - What is Home Automation?
Home automation is a field within building automation, specializing in the specific automation requirements of private homes and in the application of automation techniques for the comfort and security of its residents. Although many techniques used in building automation (such as light and climate control, control of doors and window shutters, security and surveillance systems, etc.) are also used in home automation, additional functions in home automation can include the control of multi-media home entertainment systems, automatic plant watering and pet feeding, automatic scenes for dinners and parties, and a more user-friendly control interface.
- Can iLoveControl turn on my TV and DSS Box?
No, the iPhone doesn't have an infrared port . However, iLoveControl can communicate with a controller that can turn your TV on and off.
- What IP Address and Port Number do I enter?
You should enter the IP Address and port of the controller aka processor, which makes part of your home automation system. IP Addresses are usually assigned by your network specialist or system's integrator, so please check with them first.
- What do you need to control your TV and DSS box using iLoveControl?
The simple answer right now that will work is: purchase a Crestron® QMRMC or CP2E from ebay and contact one of our programmers at: http://www.crestron.com/partnerships_and_programs/crestron_authorized_independent_programmers/ to help you program it and set it up. Alternatively, you can contact Crestron at: http://www.crestron.com/features/applications/home/ for a dealer referral.
- Other than Crestron, do you support other home automation systems?
We currently have AMX and Crestron modules. Please check the Yahoo Group.
Members of the yahoo group are working on the modules necessary to support other home automation systems. We have posted our communications protocol in the Files area of the yahoo group, and everyone is welcome to add the support necessary for the various systems out there. So far, we have members from Crestron®, AMX®, NetStreams®, Control4®, Vantage® and a few others. Hopefully we will start seeing some initial modules in the near future. You are all welcome to post your modules in the Files area so other members can use them and help test them.
- What does the interface look like on the iphone?

- Is the interface configurable? How do I order a custom configuration?
At this point we are not adjusting the interface on a screen by screen basis, rather we can adjust the number of rooms, sources, etc. according to the Custom Configuration Order Form at: How to Order. The $99 covers unlimited configuration changes for a single iPhone or iPod. Multiple iPhones will require separate configurations. The price is one-size-fits-all, you can do a single scene or a whole house. For more advanced configurations, the Configuration Wizard will be available in the not too distant future. For completely custom setups, or bulk orders, please provide detailed information ilovecontrol@mac.com and we'll provide you with a quote.
- How do I stop the emails?
For those of you that would like to remain in the yahoo group, but don't want
to receive emails for each post:
1. Click "Edit Membership". (it's located near the top of the page)
2. Under "Step 2", choose Daily Digest or Web. Choosing web will
disable all emails being sent to the account holder.
- Ok, I have a controller, now what?
Your system's integrator will have to program the back-end modules for your system and hook everything up. This process can take a few minutes or a few hours depending on the complexity of your system.
