Sow in Spring: Part V

We come to our last day in our series on helping our daughters sow to righteousness in their youth, in the springtime of their lives.

The final area in which they can be sowing seeds to godly character is a love of the home.  Our daughters can be learning how to care for a home and a family – before they have their own for which to care.  It is much harder to learn these skills for the first time when a wife is also carrying other responsibilities, such as caring for a husband, working at a full-time job, or even tending to little ones.

As you care for your home, you have much opportunity to pull your daughters alongside you and teach them how to do the same – how to cook, clean, organize effectively, and work efficiently.  If you feel lacking in these areas yourself, you could take a cooking class with your daughters or read an organization book together.  You could also set them up with a mentor – a woman you know who excels in a certain area of homemaking, such as canning or baking.

How blessed our daughters will be when they are able to make their first homes cozy havens for their husbands, pretty much from the start!  We want our daughters to be examples of the Proverbs 31 woman - a woman who is truly feminine as she cares deeply for her home and her family, working diligently and with excellence to be sure they have all they need and stores for the future.

WOW!  There is so much to be done to prepare our daughters for their future roles of wife and mother (Lord willing)!  May we be reminded of God’s grace to complete this task – both for us as we seek to train our daughters and for our daughters as they seek the training.  I love these verses that so clearly show God’s necessary work, as well as the end goal – that Jesus be glorified through us.

2 Thessalonians 1:11,12  “…we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Since we can only work in one part of the garden at a time, what seeds does your daughter most need to sow now?  It may be personal Bible study, diligence in learning, self-denial, submission, a love for the home, or even something else that has come to your mind as you read this series.  As both you and she seek to pursue growth in the area you choose, by God’s grace, you will see much fruit!
