Two words describe my mom: joyful servant. Matthew 20:26 says, “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant”. This is the first verse that comes to mind when I think of my mom. She truly is worthy of honor for all the ways she loves to serve her King, her church, and her family. When I got married and moved out, she could have said, “my job is done!” Instead, she has only desired to serve me more and more. I have been especially blessed by how much she loves to serve not only me, but also my children. Being a pastor’s wife, I have many retreats and conferences throughout the year. She doesn’t wait for me to ask her to take care of my kids during these retreats, but she emails me to find out all the dates that I’ll need her to care for my children. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is in my season of motherhood to still be able to participate in these ministry times and be with my husband at these events. Jack & Charli just love spending time with Meemaw and cry sometimes when they have to come back home. I hope one day to be like her and to grow as a servant who puts the needs of others before my own.
