In writing this, I’m at a loss for words.  How do I encapsulate years of love, care, and faithful intercession into a paragraph or two?  Here goes nothing!

I have seen and known many faithful women in my life but none can compare to you.  When I consider the word love, one aspect I think of is the laying down of one’s life for another.  I have seen you grow so much in this area.  You have consistently sought to please the Lord in this area and consistently pray for continued growth in it.  God has shaped and molded your heart and the best thing about that is that you have offered God a pliable heart; a willing, sometimes struggling, but nonetheless yielding heart.  Your constant desire for your heart is to be shaped more and more to Christ’s image.

You continually love and care for Daddy (some may say she nags  but I know you really do love!).  You also care for your children even though they are married and have their own families.  You serve us faithfully by making dinner for us, watching kids, and most of all praying for our lives to be more conformed to Christ’s.  Ever since I can remember, you have been a faithful intercessor.  Quiet times for you were sacred and it was understood we were to never interrupt your time with your Savior.  That still speaks volumes today as I struggle to be consistent in quiet times for myself.  I think of how you seek the Father in everything you do and that has taught me to do the same.

Mom, you are a faithful intercessor.  Whether it is our family, our nation, or people you’ve never even met, thank you for praying without ceasing for us and for them.  Each of your days consists of faithful supplication.  You are a prayer warrior in every sense of the word.  I’ve seen you battle in prayer daily for your children’s souls, and when it looks like God is indifferent to your requests, you are faithful to persist in prayer.  More than that, you trust that God is sovereign, that he knows exactly what he’s doing, and that it’s all for His glory.  I am confident you truly believe and trust in that.

I love you, mom, more than you know, and I thank you so much for your consistent prayer, love, and faithful intercession for me, my life, and my family’s life over these many years.  I know God will be faithful to you and to our family because of your faithfulness to seek Him on our behalf.  May you feel my love today, but more importantly, may you feel Christ’s love and pleasure today.  Thank you for being a Proverbs 31 woman,  a “good and faithful servant,” and one of His beloved.  I am honored to rise and call you blessed.

Your faithfulness is like the dew that appears every morn
It waters and rejuvenates even the sharpest thorn
Disappointments don’t deter you & I know that makes Satan mad
“Yet the fig tree fail to blossom,” you seek Christ in prayer and you’re glad

How much does my love abound?  Words cannot express
I wish I was better at writing what my heart knows best
Your faithfulness in communion with God, nothing speaks to me more
I’ve seen grace abound in my life ‘cause of your intercession to the Lord

Your faithfulness is like the dew that appears every morn
Thank you for watering me even when I’m the sharpest thorn
Thank you for your patience, for your love and training too
Please feel my love this Mother’s Day, I’m so grateful for a mom like you!
I love you!
