On November 8, 2004, we took to the road in our new rig ‘Red Zoë’. A year later in August, ’05, we added ‘Zeke the Jeep’. This is a dream we’ve had for so long we’re not even sure when it began. Over the years we’ve read books like Steinbeck’s Travels With Charlie, William Least Heat Moon’s Blue Highways and Jack Kerouac’s On The Road. National Geographic came every month and we kept dreaming. Although road trips mostly consisted of visits to family, we knew someday... someday... we’d just take off.
We sold the house, closed down our businesses, bid our friends farewell and “sailed at dawn”. Our rig is small but the world is our back yard. So, why do we live like this? Well, life is short and we’ve always been a little nuts. Life on the road has its ups & downs but at this point, we wouldn’t live any other way.
Laissez les bons temps roulez!*
