My Story
My Story
I caught the acting bug as a very young child growing up in Atlanta, GA. I used to stay up late to watch shows like Dallas and Moonlighting with my Mom and I knew that someday I was going to be on TV. My mom put me in acting classes after she couldn’t stand hearing me beg any longer. A natural born performer, I attended ice skating lessons, dance lessons, voice lessons and even went to the performing arts elementary and high schools in my county.
In high school, I excelled academically and graduated Valedictorian. From there I went on to George Washington University on an academic scholarship. My folks were smart enough to gently push me to major in something other than Theatre, so that I could be well rounded. I chose Archaeology and had the wonderful opportunity to work on digs in Wales and Ireland. After college, I thought I would give the real world a try for a bit and joined the political sphere. I had the pleasure to work to save the Arctic Wildlife Refuge as a lobbyist for a non-profit organization. Although I enjoyed saving the world, the hours were tough and I had no time to pursue acting.
So I decided to return to DC and be a starving actor where I would never actually starve since my Grandmother lived close by. While in DC, I worked on numerous commercials, industrials, and plays. You could find me generally once a month performing a Murder Mystery at various dinner locations about town (our deadly heartbreak Valentine’s show was very popular).
I also went on tour around the country going as far west as Kansas, north as Maine, and south as Georgia in a 15-passenger van performing as the lead in “Play It Again, Sam.” It seems like there wasn’t a college campus, army base, or country club in Pennsylvania or New York we didn’t perform in at least once. It was exhausting work with all the driving and being in a new town every night with only a couple hours to set up the stage before our show, but so very exciting to be a truly working actor.
It wasn’t long after the tour that I decided to move to Los Angeles and pursue acting full time. Everyone has their own way to come up with the money for such a big move and mine was simple – I moved in with my Grandmother and became a flight attendant. Ok, so not so simple, but I was good at saving up the money because I knew my ultimate goal – and I was able to travel a ton in the meantime. My father is a pilot for Delta, so I sort of knew what I was getting into and he was quick to point out that if anyone should know better it should be me.
I worked as a flight attendant for about a year for a charter airline and I was mostly contracted to the military. My main route was taking the boys from Baltimore to Frankfurt and on to Kuwait. I spent most of my time in Frankfurt, but I also went to Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, and all over the US. I love to travel, but quickly learned how exhausting a 14 hour flight truly is when you are working on it and more often than not once we landed I would want to do nothing more than sleep.
Once I saved up enough money to move to LA, I left the vagabond life of a flight attendant behind me. I packed up all my belongings from my Grandmother’s basement and drove 3000 miles with my best friend. We found an apartment in West Hollywood and I began classes at Playhouse West.
I have now been in LA for a couple years and have found acting work here and there and have earned my SAG card. I have worked on short films, music videos, print jobs, and most recently had a starring principal role on America’s Most Wanted.
