How Far was your Trip Today?

In this activity we will determine who the average traveler was.That is, which attendee traveled closest to the average distance for the whole group. A prize will be awarded to the participant who makes the most accurate guess.

1. Make a guess as to what the average distance will be. Write it here. ---->


2. Find your "as the crow flies" distance from your town/city to school.
  • Next to the From tab Enter your city and state of origin (e.g. Hoboken, NJ)
  • Now enter your destination (city, state)
  • Click on Look it up.
  • Write down your "as the crow flies" distance here. ------>

3. Go to (http://maps.google.com) and find out what your "door to door" distance is.

  • Enter your start and end address in the appropriate boxes (see above.) Click on Get Directions.
  • Write down your "door to door" distance here. ------>

4. Now go to a google docs form and enter your data (your guess, your crow flies distance and door-to-door distance.) here.
