The Morgan Cote du Crow’s is a 50/50 blend of grenache and syrah from Monterey, California. And I have to say, it was quite a delight to try this bottle the other night with turkey sausage marinara sauce over shell-shaped pasta. The medium body was a nice match, probably because of some of the syrah.
Strong aromas of cherry and fruit was matched by a deep magenta color. The complex flavors were great poured over my tongue and berries and spice were quite noticeable. At $14-15 you are definitely getting a very nice tasting wine. If it came in any cheaper it would be an outstanding value. If I am feeling like dropping this sort of cash again on a wine, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another bottle.
If I had an extra bottle I think it would mature nicely for another year or so.
And again, just for fun, the label is rather boring, albeit elegant.
One last review note, who can tell me what “Cote du Crow’s” means to Morgan winery?
