I Am Aquatic is an ongoing project of mine, I wanted to bind the name with the underwater world encompassing all aspects of the water. It has evolved from my love of the ocean.  I’ve had this relationship with the sea since I was a child. I was always fascinated with books and media about the ocean until I was finally able to plunge into it head first. It started with simple exploration then evolved into hunting and gathering. After many years of this it transformed once again into more than just being in the water. I became part of the water. I learned to deep breath hold dive (freedive) which opened the door to another world. I’ve had a seven year career in competition breath hold diving (known as freediving) which has lead me around the world. This has allowed me to hone my skills as a breath hold diver and has now lead me in yet another direction, the world of underwater photography. I have seen so many wonderful and mysterious things and have now been able to captured them on film and share them with all of you.

All the photos I shoot I want to be as close to natural as possible. This is why I shoot only in ambient light and all shots are taken on a single breath of air. Being able to freedive to capture the images has its advantages. This allows the animals to be more relaxed and undisturbed, something that while scuba diving is almost impossible to do.
