kindness

One of the things I have loved about participating in Secret Pal 9 and 10 is the kindness of strangers. I could have been sent dusty old yarn, or obviously used books, and I would have loved them.

But I wasn’t sent anything dusty. Or old.

My Secret Pal 10, who has revealed herself as Stephanie of StephanieCake, went above and beyond, in my opinion. Check out this blog entry for the incredible loot she sent me in another package.

This final package? Holy crap, people.

Yep, that’s the Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Volume 3 - Colorwork and a hank of Socks That Rock Lightweight in Fire on the Mountain. Good lord.

I’ve been coveting that book for a while, and she knew it. And she bought it for me. And the pages are already starting to warp from the drool (Just kidding! Don’t report me to the Department of Knitting Book Welfare).

I’m also a STR lover, as I know many of you are, and this colorway is simply astounding. I took some nice, dirty pictures of it. Wanna see? :)

This yarn looks, to me, like if I put it in my mouth it would taste like sunshine.

Mmm.

Thank you, Stephanie. You made my spring.

I won’t be signing up for SP11 because of the move, and also because of BookMooch. Recently I was pointed toward the BookMooch site and now I’m addicted. Go check it out. If you like getting books in the mail and can afford postage you’ll love it.

I’m hip-deep in the new Harry Potter book (I can’t help it - it’s addictive) and a couple of rows from finishing Clue #3 of the Mystery Stole. I’ll post pictures soon.

Thanks for your stories in the comments of my last post. There was a lot of soda snorting on my keyboard. Apparently I’m incapable of laughing with liquid in my mouth. Meh - I could have worse problems.
