she lives

Yes, she lives.

I have more things to tell you than I could possibly fit into one blog entry, so I’ll start with the trip.

COMING SOON:

-- I have the greatest secret pal ever (seriously, she sent me Red Sox stitch markers -
    can we say SP Messiah?)
-- I finished the Sizzle Tank (a total bust) AND one of the Phildar tanks (Braided Tank.jpg)
-- I’ve started on a Phildar summer sweater, a pair of toe-up lace socks using Socks That Rock, a surprise for the beautiful almost-mom and a VERY finicky gift for my Secret Pal.

That said, it’s been grey here for a week now. It snowed yesterday. SNOWED people. I’ll tell you what - two weeks in California and I’m becoming as embittered about this town as Franklin. Because of this lovely weather (I believe meteorologists refer to it as You-Think-It’s-Spring-Ha-Ha-Suckers-I-Sure-Showed-You weather) I haven’t been able to take any pictures that are worth a damn. So the SP goodies and the new projects will have to wait another day. But that’s it, I promise.

First, San Diego. I learned two things about San Diego very quickly.

One: Under no circumstances should you ever leave the safety of your car. In fact, if you can get someone to carry you from your car into your house that would be best.

Two: There is something one can do in San Diego that I had never seen before. I am now obsessed with this activity and plan to immediately take classes and then do nothing else for months once we move. I give you - Kite Boarding.

Yeah. I think if I learn how to Kite Board I might finally be able to hang out with the cool kids. I’m so excited.

J and I are both adrenaline junkies, so the fact that California weather would allow us to skydive and paraglide in January is too cool. Now those pictures will make for an interesting blog.

I was going to post pictures of some of the houses we looked at, but I’m fairly certain I can sum up our house-hunting process in San Diego with one word: shoebox. I’m going to leave it at that. We can’t put a bid on any new house until ours sells, so it’ll be a while anyway. Here’s to downsizing.

On the way back from San Diego to LA (where my sister and her husband live) we stopped in Carlsbad (no, not the one in New Mexico). There is something called The Flower Fields that we decided to stop in, and my god am I glad we did. If you are ever in Southern California I would recommend avoiding all other activities until you can see these fields. They grow something called Ranunculus flowers (yeah, I’d never heard of them either). I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves - J took these.

See the ladybug in that last one? Le sigh.

Ok, so I’ve gotta get back to my knitting (I can’t WAIT to show you guys!), and I promise I’ll have updates as soon as the freakin’ sun comes back from what I can only assume is a drunken spring break in Daytona.

Before I go, does anyone else find this funny?
