Research in our laboratory investigates the interactions between nutrition, growth and immunity.  Our research program in nutritional immunology studies the nutrient needs for the development and use of the immune system with the long-term goal of formulating diets that are optimal for animal health.  Our research program in nutrition and growth focuses on nutrient utilization and sensing.  We are specifically interested in amino acid utilization, particularly lysine, since lysine is limiting for growth in poultry, and glucose sensing, since this is the primary energy substrate in growing chicks.
