Thumbs Down began when I received a letter from my daughter’s school informing me that the school library was to be run with a biometric access system. It became apparent that the Infants’ School had been fingerprinting the children for several years without parental consent.
Here, on ‘Thumbs Down’, I have produced some resources that are free to use.
I ask all visitors to click the advertisements for the biometrics companies. It helps to cover the costs of running humanzee.org. There seems to be a poetic justice in making the biometric companies pay for all this!

There are many reasons to recoil from biometrics in schools
There are civil rights questions, issues surrounding security and identity theft, reliability, consent, data abuse, data access, cost and more. In my opinion, each of these are sufficient to give pause before introducing or continuing the use of a biometric identity system.
