Hobby:
Swimming! (I try to swim 3 times per week and do about 2000 m per work-out). If I’m reasonable conditioned I can do 10 x 100 m starting every 2 minutes and swim all 100 m’s below 1:20. My daughters (Merel and Kira) laugh about that (crazy daddy can not swim, I gained recently some ‘coolness’ back when they found out that I’m a Nickelback-fan for the last couple of years).

Work:
I enjoy doing research and especially I enjoy those projects in which together with students uncharted territory is entered. It is fun to be a coach in a process of finding ‘answers’; it is pleasant and rewarding.
In my teachings (Research Methods at the Academy of Physical Education) I try to convey the feeling of curiosity, of wonder, to my students.
A new area I’m now exploring is the world of Physical Education and the role it can play in preventing over-weight by influencing the life-style of children. (see link)
