Q. When I open a web page, I’m not getting the latest information. What gives?

A. The problem is a file called a "cache."

Your computer may store recently-viewed web pages in a file (the cache) on your hard drive. When you tell your browser to go to that web page, it loads the page from your computer file, NOT the actual web site. This makes the page load very fast, but it gives you the page as it was LAST viewed, not the current page. What to do?

If you have a PC, and are using Internet Explorer, here are the steps.

1. Try reloading (refresh) the page. Near the top of the browser, you should see a box with two circular arrows.

That's the refresh button. If that does the trick, you're done. If not, proceed to step 2.

2. At the top of the browser, click on "Tools" then "Internet Options" then "General" then "Settings." Under settings, make sure the button is checked that says "Check For Newer Versions Of Stored Pages." If that works, you're done. If not, go to step 3.

3. Go to "Tools" then "Internet Options" then "General" then "Settings." Click on "Delete Files."

If you have a Mac and are using Safari, as usual the process is much easier.

Pull down the "Safari" men, click on "Empty Cache, and reload the page.

Q. Can I download photos from the web site?

A. Yep! Just drag the photos to your desktop, and open with any picture-editing program (Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, etc.). For viewing and e-mail, the pictures will be fine. But don’t expect to print high-quality images. To reduce loading time, web pictures are typically low resolution.

A. The date tells you the last time the page was updated.
