This brief movie documents an artwork made in 2006 called Prayer Wheel #2. Driven by a small electric motor, the “wheel,” constructed of bamboo rods, and 16 paper “prayer flowers” (each containing 320 copies of the Tibetan prayer “Om mani padme hum”) rotated slowly clockwise, and the small wooden beads slid counter-clockwise along the perimeter.
Unfortunately, the weight of the prayer flowers was too great for the bamboo rods, and the piece self-destroyed after several months. This movie is the only record of it which remains.
