What is a Doula? A doula is a woman who assists women during the process of bearing a child--either during labor or after the child is born or both.  As a labor assistant, doulas provide emotional and physical support during labor as well serve as an advocate as needed.  Doulas are also a resource for information regarding childbirth education.  As a post-partum assistant, doulas work in the home with the family, helping to establish peaceful rhythms with the newborn.
