Vila is a member of the Pacific Association of Labor Support. She received her labor support doula training at the Seattle Midwifery School in January 2006. Since then, she has attended births in hospitals as well as home birth settings, in addition to giving birth to her daughter Efthimia at their home on Vashon Island. Vila has served as a volunteer doula at the University of Washington Medical Center as she has been completing her doula certification.
