The Weather Club has been one of Harrington School’s long- time fifth grade traditions. It still continues to this day as a fun, hands-on way to learn about weather while collaborating with students from the other fifth grade classrooms.
The Daily Forecasts:
Every fifth grader gets a chance to be apart of the Weather Club for a week during the school year. Two students from each fifth grade classroom are chosen to be the week’s meteorologists. Each day, they head outside to obtain the most accurate observations and recordings of the temperature, precipitation, air pressure, humidity, and wind speed/direction. Their data is then used to formulate the day’s weather forecast. In years past, the Weather Club’s forecast was videotaped and broadcasted via the school’s network. This year we are updating our broadcasting methods to include ......our very first podcast editions!
Podcasts are like radio or TV shows that are downloaded or accessed over the Internet. Now anyone can listen/view the Daily Forecast at home too. Simply click on the PODCAST link located at the top of the page. Enjoy and stay tuned for more of your local forecasts!
