The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a fantastic way for young people to get involved with new experiences, whilst earning a valuable award. This is why we try to offer the award to as many of the young people who come to Hope Corner as possible, whether they are PSI students, or Xcel members. We are currently the only Christian community centre in the area running the award scheme independently.
The award covers many areas that will help young people with life even after they have completed the award. In order to gain the award, a skill, physical recreation and service are taken up on a long term basis.
The majority of these can even be covered within Hope Corner. Many of our young people take up an instrument as their skill, take part in rock climbing or mountain biking as their sport, and help out in the youth group or children's work for service. All of which can be provided by Hope Corner staff.
The final part of D of E is an expedition. Groups at Hope Corner work together to train and plan for expeditions and are taken on the expedition by qualified staff at Hope Corner.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young people so don’t miss out.
Please contact us for any more info or if you want to take part in the award scheme.
