Comments from Anna: These are the things I do to help the environment. I recycle newspaper, magazines, plastic bottles, cans, and glass bottles at my house, and paper and more plastic bottles at my school. I do this to help preserve the world’s resources and prevent degradation of them. I also turn the water off while I brush my teeth to conserve water. My household uses florescent light bulbs to preserve energy and even though I may not need to turn the lights off when I leave the room with these florescent bulbs, I do.

Comments from Ashley: I do many different things to help the environment. I also recycle newspaper, magazines, plastic bottles, cans, and glass bottles at my house. And my parents produce a whole lot of trash! I also started recycling plastic bottles in our school. I also conserve a lot of water and try to convince my parents to conserve water as well. Everyone in my house takes only a five minute shower. We always turn off all the lights we don’t use. I car pool as much as possible, it saves the environment and its fun to be with friends. I do so many different things to help save the environment.

Comments from Crystal:  Their are an infinite number of things that I have done for the environment that I could talk paragraphs about; however the most important ones that I have done are those things that I have done with my friends from school because those are the things I made the biggest impact with for the environment. We each have our own voice and have used them greatly for all the things we have done for out community such as starting a recycling program at our school, conserving water, and teaching small children about the harmful effects of pollutants caused by your everyday events. Each thing we have done or said has made at least one person stop ant think about their harmful choices to the environment everyday. Each voice makes a small footstep toward a greener America.

Comments from Dakota:  Just like the other girls in our group I’m a HUGE fan of recycling. Right now, I’m trying to convince my mom to switch to the green bags at Publix, so we don’t waste the plastic ones. Granted we never truly waste them be cause we recycle the plastic ones as well, but if we could just use cloth bags of any kind thats cutting back and saving on a large part of energy and time.   I personally like to talk to people about their recycling habits on a day to day basis. I feel that reducing, reusing and recycling is very important to the land we live on and if we want to keep it like the beautiful America we live in today than it’s up to us. But don’t think is stops there, you can do many other things to help the planet, at my house we try to conserve  water and energy as well. It’s really easy, you can help as well by just turning off the lights when your not in or using the room. You can also wait to do the dishes or your laundry until you have full loads.

Comments from Joyce: My family and I have always been aware of the environment; we recycle everything imaginable and conserve energy in every way we can. Recently, I’ve been working with people other than my family to do what we feel is best for the environment. We’ve started a recycling program at our school, made water conservation video clips, and educated elementary school kids in our community about air pollution. Along with the other things we d outside of our “environmental group”, I believe that we are impacting the environment in the way we see best fit- one step at a time.
