Hogwash Farm

Local Pastured Meats
We are a small family farm with a focus on rare heritage breed animals that thrive on our rough northern hillsides in Union Village, Vermont.

Our Belted Galloway cattle, known to many as the ‘Oreo’ cows, graze the hills overlooking the Ompompanoosuc River. Our Tamworth pigs root in the woods and fields making best use of their foraging and tilling abilities. Our products include organically grass-fed & finished beef, natural pork, chicken & turkey, organic eggs, organic horse hay, straw and Tamworth breeding stock and feeder piglets.

We raise our animals on pasture because the animals are happier and produce better a product. Pasture raised meat & eggs are ideal for your health. Compared with commercial products, they offer you more "good" fats, and fewer "bad" fats. They are richer in antioxidants; including vitamins E, beta-carotene, and vitamin C. Furthermore, they do not contain traces of added hormones, antibiotics or other drugs. Meat from grass-fed animals has two to four times more omega-3 fatty acids than meat from grain- fed animals.

We have pork, beef & eggs available year-round and we are taking orders for our free-range chickens & turkeys. Please call with any questions. Thanks!

Our animals are raised out in the fresh Vermont air year-round. They graze on organic pastures and the pigs and poultry are fed  grain free from hormones or antibiotics from Green Mountain Feed.

We specialize in rare breeds for several reasons. The meat from heritage breeds is far more flavorful than the factory farm meat found in supermarkets today.

These breeds fit our cold, rough terrain and can be outside all year.

Also, preserving these rare breeds protects genetic diversity.
