Vegetarianism
It was brought to the attention of PCNN that vegetarians, those who don’t eat meat, are not well represented in the school. There are many reasons why people choose to become vegetarian, whether it is for religious reasons or simply because they don’t like meat. Vegans, another group of people who are often confused with vegetarians, don’t eat meat or animal products of any kind, like milk or cheese. Most would agree that Panther Creek’s cafeteria does not have many healthy vegetarian entrees, forcing those who don’t eat meat to either bring food from home or eat unhealthily. Vegetarians are a diverse group of people who deserve to have their lifestyle choice respected as well as represented.
This video includes interviews of vegetarians from our school, sophomores Hannah Dosa, Lillian Wu and Jeremy Bost. They talk about why they decided to “go veg,” and how they feel about options for vegetarians at lunch.
